UNIT 3 - Year 5 and 6

Classes

Residential Group 2- day 3- Race Day!

Day 3

Today we put all the skills we have learnt in to practice, we took part  in the adventure race which consisted of ten challenges:

pioneering, outdoor cooking, up and over, abseiling, river scramble, postman's walk, tunnel crawl, map location, mud crawl, retrieving our flags (from the other side of the river)  and flying our flag.

This was a very close race with minutes in it between the teams. This week Westcliff teams all completed the challenge in record time, finishing an hour earlier than any other teams this year. This was due to how well they worked together, communicated with each other, listened and encouraged each other.

A great 3 days was had by all.

World War 2 Evacuee Day

The pupils enjoyed a fantastic day out at Buckfastleigh train station where they dressed up as evacuee's. They completed lots of workshops where they found out the purpose of the steam train during the war. They also heard the stories from a real life evacuee. Pupils then were able to take a ride on the steam train and experience what a World War 2 anderson shelter would look like. The pupils had a fantastic day.
