  • Ethos Day

    Tue 25 Jun 2019

We were recently invited to Rockbeare to take part in an Ethos Day linked to Pentecost. We started the day by joining Rockbeare at their local church where we heard the story of Pentecost from the group 'Open The Book'.

We then went back to school where we took part in different activities such as baking cakes, making fire crowns and learning a different language.

  • HUB MUSIC DAY

    Thu 20 Jun 2019

What an amazing hub music day we enjoyed. Pupils from Westcliff, Rockbeare, Chudleigh Knighton, Willowbank and Lady Seawards worked collaboratively together to perform and compose.  We listened to two contrasting 'storm' compositions and explored the musical elements of pitch and dynamics within them.  In response to this we explored making 'storm' sounds with our bodies, voices and using instruments and had to include what we had learned about dynamics. After exploring sound effects, we looked at how music could be recorded as a 'graphic score'.  We then rehearsed following these scores, then performed them in groups and then as a whole class.   After lunch we had a chance to compose our own 'storm' compositions in groups and then proudly performed these.
