Enriching our Curriculum

In addition to our curriculum, all schools across The First Federation Trust have an 'Enrichment Offer'. If a child spends their educational primary journey in one of these schools, they will have the opportunity to experience events outside of their time in the classroom. We believe in providing wider opportunities for the children in our care that complement their educational experiences.

During their time in school our children will have the opportunity to -

  • Perform in a setting outside of the school building
  • Participate in a musical performance
  • Participate in an art exhibition
  • Watch a musical/drama production performed by professionals
  • Participate in a sporting event held outside of the school premises
  • Perform in the local community to support an event or facility e.g. care home
  • Learn a musical instrument
  • Participate in inter-school sports events (FFT and local schools)

Each school will also have its individual offer that will be appropriate for the context and geography of the school. Schools will provide enrichment times where the children will have the opportunity to work outside of the usual classroom curriculum.

At Westcliff, all of our children will have the opportunity to take part in the events stated above, as well as the following:

  • Take part in our on-site Forest School
  • Compete in sports days in front of parents and carers
  • Join a free after school sports, music, drama or art club
  • Take part in whole class music lessons using a range of instruments
  • Visit the local library and get support to set up a library card
  • Learn about a range of different careers and future opportunities through visitors to our school
  • Visit the local beach and learn about how to protect it
  • Take part in our ‘Proud to be Me day’ where we celebrate our differences and what makes us unique
  • Visit another place of worship for a religion different to your own
  • Learn how to ride a bike safely during the Bikeability Scheme
  • Take part in weekly singing assemblies
  • Contribute to the workings off the school through taking on a leadership role
  • Share achievements outside of school (sports, clubs, charity events etc) in front of your peers in our celebration assembly

We are happy to signpost children to local clubs, facilities etc if they are showing a particular interest or skill in the field of sport, art and music.
